Barry Glaspell is one of Canada’s most experienced class action lawyers, having been counsel on more than eighty class actions in the pharmaceutical, banking, health care, privacy, environmental, pension and insurance sectors.
Barry has been recognized by his peers for inclusion in the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada® (Class Action Litigation; Product Liability Law) and the 2024 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory of Leading Practitioners in Class Actions.
Barry also acts as settlement counsel in class actions across Canada. He provides expert opinions on class action and conflict of laws issues.
After receiving law degrees from University of Toronto, Harvard Law School and Trinity College, University of Cambridge, Barry clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada. He was a senior litigation partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP prior to starting his own firm in 2017. Barry has taught private international law at the University of Toronto and University of Ottawa law schools.
Barry was awarded the 2023 Arbor Prize, the highest honour granted by the University of Toronto to volunteers. He also received the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for public service.
